Rochester is well known throughout the state as a sports hub for enthusiasts and professionals alike. Rochester Rhinos


The Rochester Rhinos are the Rochester soccer team. Formed in 1996, the Rochester Rhinos are well known for their having been the only USL team to have won the US Open Cup. Currently placed in League One, the team are currently between stadiums but plan to return in the 2020 season.


Rochester Red Wings


Rochester is well known for its love of baseball and its MInor League Red Wings team never disappoints. Now based on the Frontier Fields in Downtown Rochester, guests at the Riverside Hotel Rochester can easily catch a game during their visit to the city. With a capacity of 13500, the Frontier Field is an atmospheric and exciting addition to the plethora of Rochester sporting attractions.


Rochester Americans


Playing out of the popular Blue Cross Arena, the Rochester Americans symbolize one of the most popular sports in Rochester. With a large ice hockey contingent in the area, the Rochester Americans are a great addition to the sporting teams originating in Rochester. 


Rochester RazorSharks


The Rochester RazorSharks are the city basketball team and play out of the Blue Cross Arena. Holding 8 titles since their forming in 2005, the basketball team is arguably the most successful sporting team in the city, bringing in thousands of spectators to their home games every year.


Blue Cross Arena

Located just a short walk from the best Rochester Hotels (including ours!) the Blue Cross Arena, or War Memorial Arena is located at 1 Memorial Square, bringing in up to 11000 spectators to its multi-purpose sporting arena. Last renovated in 1995, the Blue Cross Arena is one of the stand-out buildings in Rochester.


With the nearby Lake Ontario and Genesee Valley River, it’s no surprise that white water rafting and kayaking is so popular in Rochester. With the nearby Bay Creek Paddling Centre, Kayaking in the city has become one of the main draws for watersport enthusiasts and promises accessible lessons for beginners of all ages, as well as hardy trails for experts.
